'Eye-popping' and 'jaw-dropping' are certainly phrases that crossed the minds of cricket fans when Australian pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins secured staggering amounts in the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday. Starc set a new record as the most expensive player in IPL history with a bid of Rs 24.75 crore, just moments after his skipper Pat Cummins received a Rs 20.50 crore paycheck. Shortly after Cummins garnered an astounding bid from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders upped the ante by presenting an even more substantial salary package for the left-arm pacer.
