India fined for slow over-rate, docked two WTC points

India faced a devastating loss to South Africa in the opening Test match at Centurion. They were fined 10% of their match fees and lost two significant World Test Championship points. The ICC imposed the sanction after India failed to meet the minimum over-rate requirements. Captain Rohit Sharma pleaded guilty to the offence. With this penalty, India's ranking in the points standings dropped to sixth place. Before leaving for home, India will play one more Test in South Africa.
