MS Dhoni files case against former business partners after being 'cheated' of Rs 15 crore

Dhoni alleged that the company did not follow an agreement to provide a share of the profits after setting up cricket academies in his name at several places across the world.

RANCHI: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lodged a criminal case at the Ranchi Civil Court against his former business partners Mihir Diwakar and Saumya Vishwas of Arka Sports and Management Limited for cheating him of Rs 15 crore.

In his complaint, Dhoni alleged that the company did not follow an agreement to provide a share of the profits after setting up cricket academies in his name at several places across the world due to which he suffered a loss of Rs 15 crore.

According to Dhoni’s advocate Dayanand Singh, an agreement was signed between Dhoni and the company in 2017.

“The agreement stipulated payment of Arka Sports franchise fees and sharing of profits, but the company did not do so. Dhoni had sent several notices to the company, but it did not take any action in this regard nor did it give any share in the profit,” said the advocate. As a result, Dhoni terminated the agreement with the company on 15 August 2021, he added.

The academies were closed after the agreement was terminated in 2021. Diwakar is said to be Dhoni’s acquaintance for a long time.
